As part of its new tourism campaign “Cambodia, Kingdom of Wonder,” the Ministry of Tourism has been running regular 30-second ads on CNN International. The current ad encourages tourists to visit Phnom Penh for the Water Festival, which takes place this year from Nov 11 to 13. According to a document provided by the Ministry of Tourism’s Department of Finance, the ministry paid CNN $350,000 to show the spot 870 times over a 24-week period, a discount of 70 percent from CNN’s standard ad rate. The ads show an average of five times a day. CATA feels that these adds in CNN will boost the tourism images of the country in the world tourism scenario. |
